TWIN CITIES RESIDENT TO COMPETE
IN AKC/EUKANUBA NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP
Thousands of Competitors Vie for the Title of National Champion!
Minneapolis, Minnesota — On December 12-13, the best in the sport of purebred dogs will flock to Long Beach, Calif. to strut their stuff at the prestigious AKC/Eukanuba National Championship. Local resident, Nona Dietrich and Blondie will be among the contenders. Blondie will be shown by Junior Handler, Melissa Thorson, also of Minneapolis. Also, Desi, Blondie’s uncle will also be a contender. He also was bred by Nona, and is in the top 10 national ranking for the Havanese. He is owned by Dr Steve and Patti Lucas of Madison WI, and professional handler David Schieris will be showing him.
Desi and Blondie will compete against not only the top show dogs in the country, but also a slate of the finest specimens from around the world. The show airs on Animal Planet and the Discovery Channel on February 6, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. Central time.
The AKC/Eukanuba National Championship is the largest prize money dog show in the world, with cash and prizes awarded totaling more than $225,000.
In celebration of the AKC’s 125th Anniversary, the ninth annual AKC/Eukanuba National Championship will waive the invitational format allowing all exhibitors to enter, and championship points will be awarded. More than 125 breeds - one for each year of AKC’s history – which will be holding specialties or supported entries at this event in honor of the milestone.
